CNC Machine Shop Supervisor (Mazak Specialist)
Lead the Second Shift Building Custom Machines
It’s 4:00 PM in Itasca, IL. The second shift powers up, and you’re guiding complex, custom builds for an OEM that has been successfully manufacturing for over a century. This confidential manufacturer designs and assembles industrial machinery used in data centers and other mission‑critical environments. With a strong backlog and a brand‑new second shift, there’s steady work, challenging parts, and consistent overtime.
Where You’ll Work
- Location: Itasca, IL (West Suburbs)
- Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
- Shift: 2nd Shift, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, with overtime; potential 1st shift opening
- Training: All hires start on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd
What You’ll Earn
- Pay: $30–$40 per hour
- Shift Differential: +$3/hour for 2nd shift
- Overtime: Up to ~20 hours/week
- Start Date: ASAP
Open Roles on the Team
- CNC Machinists (Mills and/or Lathes)
- Machine Shop Supervisor — extensive Mazak experience required; prior supervision experience not required
Candidates may be considered for either role based on experience.
Day-to-Day for CNC Machinists
- Set up, run, and fine‑tune programs on CNC mills and/or lathes
- Tackle high‑mix, low‑volume custom components
- Edit G‑code or Mazatrol (full programming a plus)
- Upload/download programs using CNC software tools
- Read and apply engineering drawings and specifications
- Inspect work to confirm tolerance and surface finish requirements
- Offer ideas to improve processes and throughput
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
What You Bring (CNC Machinists)
- 2–5+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong setups and confident G‑code editing
- Background in OEM, custom machinery, or job shop settings
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
