John Hersey High School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Education Teacher to join our team. We are committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging business education that prepares students for success in the 21st-century workforce. We're looking for educators who are passionate about business, technology, and entrepreneurship, and who are eager to inspire and empower students.
Our ideal candidate has a strong background in business and a passion for teaching. We are looking for a collaborative team player who uses technology and creative strategies to keep students engaged. You should be dedicated to a student-centered classroom and always looking for new ways to help students succeed.
Business Education - 0.7 FTE
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in various business education courses, including accounting, entrepreneurship, technology, and consumer education, and/or LEP (Limited English Proficiency) courses.
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with state standards and prepares students for future success.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Teams to develop creative instructional strategies and resources.
- Utilize research-based instructional strategies to increase student achievement.
- Employ a variety of assessment practices (formative, summative, selected response, extended written response, performance-based) to maximize student learning.
- Demonstrate a wide variety of instructional methods and practices to meet individual student needs.
- Support building extracurricular activities as a coach or sponsor.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work with students of diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.
- Pursue professional growth and stay current with best practices in business education.
- Follow directives of the Career and Technical Education division head.
Qualifications:
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Senior HS endorsement in Business Education.
- EL endorsement preferred.
- Experienced and outstanding educator, willing to teach all levels of accounting, entrepreneurship, technology, consumer education, and/or LEP courses.
- Must be able and willing to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Must work effectively within our Professional Learning Team model.
- Must be well-versed in a wide variety of assessment practices that maximize student learning.
- Demonstrate a wide variety of instructional methods & practices to meet individual student needs.
- Support building extracurricular activities as a coach or sponsor.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work with students of diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.
- Pursue professional growth.
- Follow directives of Career and Technical Education division head.
