Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting opportunity for a Motor Truck Cargo, Inland Marine Underwriter to join us in the Chicago office.
Join us in the Marine team as you’ll get to work with a highly collaborative and close-knit underwriting team. We are looking for talented individuals to help grow our portfolio and to work closely with our team as we strive for efficient, accretive growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and continue to build the Transportation sector within the Inland Marine book of business, with a focus on the Motor Truck Cargo (MTC) product line, working closely with Midwest Marine leadership in the Chicago office
- Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships working independently and in conjunction with other BHSI product lines
- Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 3-5+ years P&C insurance underwriting experience
- Experience with Inland Marine lines and background in MTC underwriting are strongly preferred
- Strong existing broker relationships
- Experience and strong understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts and AAIS
- Experience marketing to specialized brokers
- Strong collaboration and team building skills
- Must be entrepreneurial and a self-starter
- Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications, and presentation experience

The base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
