Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations by assisting with accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting routine accounting processes. The Accounting Associate will help ensure financial data is recorded accurately and in a timely manner while providing administrative support to the accounting team. The ideal candidate is dependable, analytical, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support VP of Accounting with month-end and year-end closing activities
• Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports, as requested
• Assist VP of Accounting with the Work-in-Progress (WIP) process during month-end close, including tracking, reviewing, and updating project financial activity in Sage
• Assist HR Manager with payroll-related functions, including supporting union reporting requirements and payments
• Assist VP of Accounting and HR Manager with compiling documentation requested for union and insurance audits
• Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, as needed
• Assist with data entry and updates within the accounting system including setting up new jobs, entering change orders, etc.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing system or workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Support the accounting team with additional administrative and financial tasks as needed

Qualifications & Skills:

• 3–5 years of accounting experience in an in-house or corporate accounting department, preferably within a privately held or mid-sized organization
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support
• Experience with Sage 100 Contractor accounting software is a plus
• Familiarity with payroll processes, including union reporting and insurance audit support, is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong data entry and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling financial information
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to support process improvements and operational efficiencies

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $70,000+ annually, based on experience.
