Senior Tax Analyst

Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst - Indirect Tax to join our growing tax team. This role will support compliance and reporting for various non-income-based taxes including sales and use tax, business licenses, unclaimed property, property taxes, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions (U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico). This position will provide exposure to various aspects of indirect tax compliance and strategy, offering an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within the corporate tax function. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience with automation and process improvements, and a proactive, solutions-driven mindset. This position will also coordinate with outside accounting firms to support accurate and timely tax filings, ensuring compliance across all applicable jurisdictions.
Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: - Sales & Use Tax
- Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
- Perform nexus and taxability analyses; resolve tax issues as they arise.
- Manage exemption certificate compliance and documentation.
- Support configuration and updates in sales tax software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, Sovos).
- Business Licenses & Registrations
- Manage business license renewals, applications, and filings.
- Track and maintain entity registrations and ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Partner with Legal and Operations teams on new location openings or changes.
- Unclaimed Property
- Ensure compliance with state unclaimed property (escheat) laws.
- Gather and analyze data for annual filings; support audits and remittances.
- Property Taxes
- Prepare and file personal property tax returns and manage real estate tax payments.
- Collaborate with departments (e.g., Fixed Assets, Facilities) for data accuracy.
- Maintain tax calendars, review assessments, and support appeals as needed.
- Track liabilities, refunds, and budgets; assist with related audits.
- Other Indirect Taxes, Audits & Process Improvement
- Support filings for other non-income-based taxes (e.g., gross receipts, environmental fees).
- Conduct tax research and advise on taxability and regulatory changes.
- Prepare for and support audits, including data collection and response coordination.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Operations.
Qualifications: Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related.
- 3-5+ years of indirect tax experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Strong knowledge of sales/use tax laws and unclaimed property rules.
- Experience with sales tax software (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, Sovos) and ERP systems (Oracle and IBS).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: USD $76,000.00 - USD $126,000.00 /Yr. Reasonable Accommodation Notice:
