Job Description

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing and reviewing engineering calculations including deep foundations, tile lengths, slope stability, and sediment calculations. You will prepare various geotechnical reports, work collaboratively with design teams, and ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Your role will involve coordinating and monitoring subsurface drilling investigations, reviewing boring logs, and developing comprehensive geotechnical reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review engineering calculations for deep foundations, tile lengths, slope stability, and sediment control.

• Prepare geotechnical data, interpretive, baseline, and design reports.

• Collaborate with design teams to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, making design recommendations or modifications as needed.

• Coordinate and monitor subsurface drilling investigations, reviewing boring logs.

• Develop and interpret geotechnical data reports, and create plans and specifications.

Essential Skills

• 8-10 years of Geotechnical Experience

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification

• Proficiency in Geotechnical Writing/Report Writing

• Proficient in PAXIS and gINT software

• Experience with geotechnical data interpretation and development of plans and specifications

• Experience working with the City of Chicago

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering

• Master's in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus

Work Environment

The position is based in Carol Stream, with a team of 6 engineers and 2 geologists, working closely with the Carol Stream materials/soils lab. Most staff work in the office five days a week, with flexibility for occasional remote work. The role involves 75-80% office work and 15-20% fieldwork. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $61.00/hr.
