We are a dynamic and growing manufacturing company located in the heart of downtown Chicago, known for our innovation, quality products, and collaborative culture. As we scale operations and optimize production efficiency, we’re seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team and provide critical insights into product costing, inventory control, and financial reporting.
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing production costs, preparing cost reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate inventory valuation, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting operational decision-making across departments.
Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, including material, labor, and overhead
• Maintain and reconcile standard costs and update BOMs and routings as needed
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate variances
• Prepare and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margin reports
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and inventory planning
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost accounting
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance cost tracking and reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite – preferred)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
