Qualifications

Education
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with at least 3 years of experience
Licensure & Certifications
  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) | Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
Professional Experience
  • Anticoagulation management experience is preferred
  • Pharmacist for at least 3 years and leadership experience preferred
Professional Skills & Competencies
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of clinical guidelines for anticoagulation

Responsibilities

Position Summary:
Ensures smooth operation of all departmental functions according to approved policies, state/federal laws, professional standards, and accreditation requirements. Provides leadership to pharmacy staff, oversees clinical operations, and drives process improvements to support patient care needs.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Personnel Management
  • Supervise & Deploy: Supervise pharmacists, technicians, interns, and residents; routinely assess performance during shifts and deploy resources to best meet patient care needs.
  • Performance Development: Create development plans, support individual goal achievement, monitor employee performance, and ensure timely communication regarding evaluations and personnel actions.
  • Talent Management: Perform personnel-related duties, including interviewing, hiring recommendations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, and payroll reporting.
  • Training & Onboarding: Lead training of new employees and develop/maintain clinical competencies, training materials, and educational resources.
  • Staff Compliance: Ensure staff compliance with required training, certification, and competency standards; maintain documentation and report non-compliance.
  • Engagement: Manage staff communications, hold regular meetings, and promote team engagement.
Operational & Clinical Excellence
  • Quality Improvement: Monitor and track Total Time in Therapeutic Range (TTR), review AMS-specific emergency room/hospital admissions, and support departmental process improvement projects.
  • Protocol Management: Collaborate with the medical director to review anticoagulation management protocols to ensure patient therapeutic and safety goals are achieved.
  • System Liaison: Serve as a liaison between the East Region service line and AMS services in other regions to drive system-wide improvements.
  • Operational Support: Support the provision of services to other departments as relevant to the practice site.
  • Clinical Coverage: Perform all duties of an AMS pharmacist as required to support clinical operations and continuity of care.

  • Excellent leadership, team building, and delegation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and performance metrics analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $58.72per hour - $101per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
