Ultrasound Technologist Job Details

• Location: Peoria, IL 61637 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Hospital – Ultrasonography Unit
• Position Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Ultrasound Tech
• Start Date: October 27, 2025
• End Date: March 16, 2026
• Assignment Length: 20 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2870 - $2950 per week

Ultrasound Tech Qualifications

• Graduate of a CHEA or USDOE accredited Ultrasound Program
• Associate's Degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist (abdominal, pelvic, and vascular ultrasound preferred)
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) certification required
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification required
• Pediatric Sonography (PS) certification required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical support team

Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures using non-ionizing, high-frequency ultrasonic waves
• Operate ultrasound equipment and manage electronic medical records and PACS systems
• Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in accordance with hospital policy
• Identify anatomic abnormalities and adjust imaging equipment as needed
• Recognize and report irregularities during ultrasound exams to appropriate healthcare personnel
• Communicate effectively with patients to ensure comfort and cooperation during procedures
• Relay patient information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Follow all safety protocols, including infection control and use of protective clothing
