About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a CAD Engineer with fire alarm system design experience to join a growing life safety team in Orland Park, IL.
This role will support commercial projects from concept through completion, creating accurate and code-compliant fire alarm system designs while collaborating with engineering, project management, and field installation teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented CAD professional who understands fire protection systems and enjoys turning project specifications and construction documents into accurate, installation-ready designs.
What You'll Do
• Design and draft fire alarm system layouts using CAD software
• Create detailed and accurate drawings based on project specifications and requirements
• Read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, blueprints, and project plans
• Ensure fire alarm designs comply with applicable fire protection and life safety codes and standards
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field installation teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Revise and update drawings as project requirements, field conditions, or specifications change
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across drawings and project documentation
• Support projects from initial design through completion
What You'll Bring
• Experience designing fire alarm systems
• Proficiency with CAD software
• Knowledge of applicable fire protection and life safety codes and standards
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Strong organizational and project coordination skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, project management, and field teams
Preferred Qualifications
• NICET Level I or II certification
• Previous experience within the construction or engineering industry
• Experience supporting commercial fire alarm or life safety projects
• Familiarity with coordinating designs for field installation teams
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience
Benefits become available after 90 days and include:
