We are currently hiring on behalf of a rapidly growing transportation and logistics company seeking an experienced Freight Sales Representative to join their team in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Freight Sales Representative who thrives in a fast-paced brokerage environment and is passionate about building strong customer relationships. This role is ideal for a driven logistics sales professional with experience managing freight in a cradle-to-grave environment and developing a strong book of business.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, results-oriented, and capable of managing both customer relationships and carrier partnerships while maximizing profitability and service performance.Â

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a book of business through prospecting, lead generation, and relationship management
- Manage truckload shipments from pickup to delivery in a cradle-to-grave brokerage environment
- Negotiate freight rates with shippers and carriers to maximize margins
- Build and maintain reliable carrier relationships to secure capacity
- Resolve shipment issues proactively while delivering high-level customer service
- Drive revenue growth through new and existing customer accounts
- Maintain accurate reporting and customer data within CRM and TMS platforms
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure smooth freight execution
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of freight brokerage or transportation sales experience
- Proven track record of developing and managing a book of business
- Experience working in a cradle-to-grave brokerage environment
- Strong understanding of truckload market trends, pricing, and carrier management
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience using TMS platforms, load boards, and CRM systems
- Ability to manage multiple customers and shipments in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Preferred
- Experience with dry van, reefer, flatbed, or specialized freight
- Familiarity with McLeod, Tai, AscendTMS, Turvo, Salesforce, or HubSpot
- Experience using DAT and Truckstop load boards
- Strong sales charisma and relationship-building ability
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $50,000 â $80,000 (depending on experience and book of business)
