Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 10 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Valid state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or TNS or TCRN Must-Have: Emergency Department nursing, patient assessment, care plan development, nursing interventions, patient safety Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. The RN performs patient assessment and develops a care plan in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. The RN modifies the care plan based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions, adhering to safety standards and correcting/reporting safety hazards. The RN effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment. The RN provides feedback to peers to aid in professional development, increase knowledge base, and problem-solve. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
