Laboratory Technician – LCMS, Serology, Accessioning

Summary

Lighthouse Lab Services is representing a clinical laboratory in Bourbonnais, IL seeking a Laboratory Technician with hands-on experience in sample accessioning, LC-MS operations, and serology testing . This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science who are looking to expand their skill set within a CLIA-regulated lab environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience preparing and processing samples, operating LC-MS instruments under supervision, and performing serological assays—preferably on Hariba instruments. Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and adherence to SOPs are essential to success in this role.

Job Responsibilities

Sample Accessioning & Processing

• Receive, label, and enter patient samples into the LIMS/LIS.

• Verify paperwork and test orders for accuracy.

• Prepare samples (centrifugation, aliquoting, plating, dilutions as required).

Serology Testing (Hariba Instrument)

• Run serology assays using the Hariba platform or equivalent.

• Perform daily QC, calibrations, and routine analyzer maintenance.

• Document results and flag QC failures or abnormal findings per SOP.

LC-MS Support

• Prepare samples for LC-MS analysis, including extraction and appropriate pre-analytical steps.

• Operate LC-MS instrumentation for routine testing under the guidance of senior staff.

• Assist with basic troubleshooting, instrument cleaning, and system checks.

• Run controls, blanks, and calibration standards as required.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of testing, QC, maintenance, and reagent usage.

• Follow CLIA, CAP, and internal quality management requirements.

• Participate in proficiency testing, method validations, and equipment verifications as needed.

General Laboratory Duties

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

• Follow all safety protocols for handling patient samples, reagents, and chemicals.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, technologists, and other lab personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field.

• Hands-on accessioning experience in a clinical or analytical lab.

• Experience with LC-MS instrumentation (routine operation preferred; troubleshooting a plus).

• Serology experience , preferably on a Hariba analyzer or similar platform.

• Familiarity with LIMS/LIS systems and basic laboratory documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs accurately.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
