9-1-1 telecommunicator
KenCom Public Safety Dispatch is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of 9-1-1 Telecommunicator. The positions will remain open until all vacancies are filled. We require a completed testing service through the National Testing Network (NTN).
The starting salary is $57,740.80 - $63,065.60, based on relevant experience as a 9-1-1 telecommunicator in an emergency communications center.

- Review all information related to KenCom’s 9-1-1 Telecommunicator position
- Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test
- Review the detailed information about the testing process
- Review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and take an online practice test (if desired
Upon completing your scheduled entry-level exam, KenCom will contact the candidates who have attained a passing score to participate in additional steps of the candidate selection process. You must notify KenCom of any changes in contact information during the selection process by emailing [email protected].

National Testing Network is a service to conduct entry-level testing in a standardized, professional environment. It does not replace KenCom’s responsibility and decision-making in the hiring process. All candidate results are provided to KenCom, where the final decisions are made.
Job Requirements:
- 18 Years of Age
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Driver’s License (not required to be from Illinois)
- Ability to read & speak English
- Entry-level exams through NTN
- Must be able to type 40 wpm using standard keyboarding methods accurately
- Must have schedule flexibility, including working weekends, holidays, and overtime that may be mandatory
- Must have experience and be proficient in working with Windows-based computer operating systems
- Ability to multitask
- Must be of sound moral character and integrity
- Must exercise good judgment and demonstrate the ability to problem-solve
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Complete job shadowing preview with a current telecommunicator
