How you'll make an impact

The AVP, Data Operations & Quality is responsible for owning the end-to-end operational lifecycle, quality, and governance of external data exchanged between Gallagher Bassett and its clients, carriers, and vendor partners. This role serves as the enterprise owner for external data operations, including data transfers, scheduled data feeds, external data reporting, data audits, error analysis, and issue resolution processes. The AVP leads teams responsible for reviewing external data, identifying root causes, coordinating corrections, and ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across Gallagher Bassett systems.

In addition to operational oversight, this role establishes standards, escalation protocols, and performance expectations for external data processes and drives continuous improvement to strengthen data trust and reporting confidence.This is a client-facing operational leadership role that partners closely with Client Services, Implementation, and Technology teams to ensure external data supports client reporting, financial processing, compliance, and day-to-day operations.

How you’ll make an impact

External Data Operations & Reliability

· Own the full operational lifecycle of external data across clients, carriers, and partners, including data transfers, reporting inputs, and downstream impacts.

· Ensure external data is accurate, complete, secure, and delivered in accordance with established standards and timelines.

· Provide executive oversight for data stability and reliability, proactively identifying risks to data quality or reporting integrity.

Team Leadership & Oversight

· Lead and develop teams responsible for external data review, audits, and issue resolution, including Carrier Data Services and related functions.

· Establish clear priorities, capacity planning, and escalation paths to ensure consistent execution.

· Build a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement across data operations teams.

Data Quality, Audits & Issue Management

· Oversee review of data errors, audit findings, and reporting discrepancies to ensure root cause analysis is performed and ownership for resolution is clear.

· Ensure timely coordination of corrections across internal teams, service centers, and external partners.

· Own escalation and incident management for recurring, high impact, or systemic data issues.

Governance & Cross Functional Partnership

· Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and monitoring for external data processes.

· Serve as the primary operational liaison between business teams and Technology for external data workflows.

· Partner with Client Services, Claims Operations, GBIT to align data quality with business and reporting needs.

· Communicate risks, trends, and recommendations clearly to senior leaders and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement & Scalability

· Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and strengthen external data processes and controls.

· Drive improvements in transparency, monitoring, documentation, and feedback loops to prevent repeat issues.

· Design scalable operating models to support growth, evolving partner requirements, and increasing data complexity.

About You

Required:

8–12+ years of experience in external data operations, data quality management, or operational data environments

Proven experience leading teams performing data analysis, audits, and issue resolution

Strong understanding of external data processes, including file based data transfers (FTP/SFTP), scheduled data feeds, and reporting inputs

Deep familiarity with common data formats (CSV, fixed-width, XML, JSON)

Experience partnering cross functionally with business operations and technology teams

Strong client facing communication and stakeholder management skills

Willingness to roll up sleeves, remove blockers, and lead through complex operational challenges

High school diploma and 14 years OR Bachelor's degree + 8 years of related insurance industry experience required.

Experience with IT/data exchange.

Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization from the client level to senior leadership.

Desired:

Experience in insurance, claims administration, or financial data processing environments

Experience overseeing data validation, reconciliation, and quality monitoring

Familiarity with both legacy and modern data environments and operational workflows

Background in governance, operational transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Previous experience working in the insurance industry and in client facing roles.

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
