This position is an Exempt, Full-Time, 12-Month, Non-Union appointment with an annual salary of $65,169.17.
The Associate Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services supports the Director and other Financial Aid staff in utilizing the financial aid management software system effectively and provide a communication liaison between the Financial Aid and Veteran Services and other college departments.
The Associate Director is an exempt, full-time, 12-month, Confidential/Supervisory appointment based on a schedule established by the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services. An altered work schedule may be required in response to departmental programs. The position involves frequent handling of confidential information and records. Work contacts include students, administrators, faculty, staff, and governmental agencies in a high-volume environment with on-going deadlines.

Essential Job Functions
- Ensures effective operation of the areas of responsibility within the Student Financial Aid Office by advising the director regarding office operations, developing and recommending student financial aid policy, managing aid funds, conducting program evaluation, adapting the financial aid management system to maximize efficiency, working collaboratively with colleagues, and performing duties as assigned by the director.
- Promotes a positive image of the Financial Aid Office by participating in administrative and professional venues and making presentations to inform the public about the various financial aid programs and associated application processes.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations by assisting in the preparation of required reports concerning financial aid and participating in annual audits.
- Stays abreast of financial aid matters through professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for coordination and troubleshooting of student financial concerns for the department.
- Receives, investigates, and responds to difficult, sensitive problems and student complaints in a professional manner.
- Troubleshoots processing issues within the financial aid system; ensures that comprehensive data management protocols are in place to create and maintain efficiency; performs testing as needed for regular system updates.
- Works with institutional offices as required to promote and inform students and staff of the financial aid function; strategizes efforts for recruitment and retention in relation to financial aid.
- Oversees and maintains department operating budget, in coordination with the Director.
- Formulates, implements, reviews, and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards to ensure departmental compliance with financial aid guidelines and objectives.
- Maintain day-to-day responsibility for the Colleague Financial Aid module, overseeing all systems processing.
- Select, supervise, train, and evaluate department staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, orally and in writing with a diverse population, and to project strong interpersonal skills.
- Managerial skills with an emphasis on team building
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and database management, with the ability to learn the Parkland College information systems, especially Datatel/Colleague, and new programs as technology changes.
- Ability to interact with parents, students, co-workers, Parkland Staff, and government agencies on a professional level.
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential material judiciously.
- Ability to represent the Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services at internal and external functions.
