Head Start Teacher

What You'll Do:

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, individualized learning experiences for preschool-age children
• Build warm, trusting relationships with children and their families
• Partner with a Teacher Assistant to create a responsive and inclusive classroom
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and developmental observations
• Collaborate with families, community partners, and program staff to support whole-child development
• Participate in team meetings, family events, and required training

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree in Education with Illinois Pre-K certification
• Knowledge of Head Start philosophy, developmentally appropriate practice, and early childhood best practices
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass required background checks and provide proof of physical exam (including TB test)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

A Plus If You Have:

• Previous Head Start or Early Head Start experience
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish especially welcome)
• Illinois Gateways to Opportunity credentials or registry profile
