Manager, Desktop Engineering

A prestigious company is looking for a Manager, Desktop Engineering. This role will lead & manage a team over risk/controls of Windows desktop operating systems, VDI desktop, VMware, O365, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of talented engineers by providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions
• Establish strategic direction for desktop engineering initiatives aligned with organizational goals
• Package application deployments for end-user computing solutions
• Management of profile data technologies
• Meet with Business, IT and Security Leaders to develop requirements and communicate changes to the environment
• Automate processes in the end-user experience space
• Lead, design, develop, enhance, debug, and implement software
• Maintain and troubleshoot Office 365 environment
• Remove barriers and obstacles from end-user technology to enable the business
• Provide tactical and strategic input on the overall end-user experience
• Provide on-call support according to assigned schedule
• Document changes, policies, procedures and drawings
• Lead projects of various sizes and schedules
• Demonstrated vendor management experience, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, relationship management, and performance evaluation
• Supervise all direct reports and provide overall direction to the team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in desktop engineering or end-user computing roles
• Minimum 2 years of experience in people management roles
• Experience supporting Windows desktop operating system environments
• Experience deploying applications across enterprise desktop workstations using modern tools
• Experience with a Scripting language
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience with VDI management solutions
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience with O365
• Desktop Application Troubleshooting
• Experience operating in a DevOps culture
• Experience with delivering VDI environment leveraging VMware Horizon and instant clone desktops
