Fleet Maintenance Technician / Shop Coordinator

Overview
We are seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician / Shop Coordinator with 3–5 years of mechanic experience and strong organizational skills. This hybrid role includes hands-on truck and equipment maintenance plus administrative responsibilities that keep the shop running smoothly. This role is vital in ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and coordination of our fleet and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with various types of machinery, and excellent organizational skills to manage shop operations efficiently. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of equipment, including heavy machinery, farm equipment, and automotive systems, in a dynamic environment dedicated to safety and operational excellence.

Mechanical Work

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Complete inspections to ensure DOT compliance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Administrative & Shop Coordination

• Create and manage work orders
• Track and manage spare parts inventory
• Order parts and maintain vendor relationships
• Schedule routine and preventative maintenance
• Maintain maintenance logs and DOT records
• Oversee general shop organization
• Coordinate tasks for helpers and support staff

Requirements

• 3–5 years experience as a truck, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanic
• Strong understanding of diesel systems, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, and diagnostics
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
• Experience with maintenance software or willingness to learn
• Strong communication and record-keeping skills
• Must have own basic tools (specialty tools provided)

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• Standard daytime shift (you can specify actual hours if desired)
• Occasional flexibility during peak periods (rare)

Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
