Quality Control Manager / Quality Manager / Quality Lead will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing ISO9001 and AS9100-compliant quality control systems across a specialist manufacturer of industrial gears, custom gearboxes, open gearing, gear sets, and precision machined power transmission components.

Quality Control Manager / Quality Manager / Quality Lead will ideally have experience leading inspection and testing teams within a precision manufacturing environment, ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of complex gearing, gearbox assemblies, reverse-engineered gear components, machined parts, and heavy-duty mechanical transmission products.

Quality Control Manager / Quality Manager / Quality Lead Role

Develop, implement, and manage ISO9001 and AS9100 quality control systems across industrial gears, custom gearboxes, gear sets, and precision machined components.

Supervise QC technicians, lab technicians, inspectors, and inspection personnel across gearing and gearbox manufacturing.

Investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues relating to gears, gearboxes, machined parts, purchased components, and finished assemblies.

Lead inspection and testing activity across open gearing, spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, gearbox rebuilds, and custom gearbox builds.

Provide technical and statistical support to production, quality, and operations teams.

Create, maintain, and improve inspection criteria, quality procedures, documentation, and control standards.

Work with production and plant leadership to improve product reliability, reduce costs, and maintain consistent quality output.

Oversee inspection activity from raw materials and purchased parts through to machined components, gearbox assembly, and final release.

Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, reporting, and continuous improvement across precision machining and gearbox operations.

Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality of purchased parts, materials, gear blanks, and machined components.

Develop quality control training programmes and mentor inspection and quality team members.

Report into the Director of Operations, working closely with production, operations, inspection, and plant management.

Based on site in Addison, IL.

Quality Control Manager / Quality Manager / Quality Lead Requirements

Minimum 7 years’ experience in quality control, quality management, precision manufacturing, gear manufacturing, gearbox manufacturing, or mechanical power transmission.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired.

Strong knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality systems.

Experience supervising QC technicians, inspectors, lab teams, or testing personnel within a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of inspection processes, quality documentation, nonconformance reporting, corrective actions, and customer quality requirements.

Experience with precision machined components, industrial gears, custom gearboxes, open gearing, shafts, assemblies, or similar engineered products.

Able to create and improve quality standards, inspection procedures, training programmes, and control processes.

Confident working with production, operations, vendors, and internal quality teams to resolve quality issues.

Strong analytical, numerical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Highly organised, computer literate, and confident using Microsoft Office Suite. xrczosw
