POSITION TITLE: CACFP (Child and Adult Food Program)/Tummy Services Coordinator STATUS : Exempt, FT GRADE: 4 DEPT: EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES PROGRAM: Early Childhood Financial Empowerment Services REPORTS TO: EARLY CHILDHOOD FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER SUPERVISES: Nutrition Specialist
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of management, The CACFP Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This role includes managing CACFP personnel, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and coordinating meal services for eligible participants. The coordinator will also be involved in staff training, program monitoring, and reporting. Ensures overall program requirements and recruitment and marketing strategies are in place to promote ongoing sustainability and growth of the programs. COLLABORATES WITH: YWCA Programs, DuPage, Kane and Lake Counties DHS offices, IDHS, ISBE, IDVA, INCCRRA, DCFS, Community Partners, Parents and Child Care Providers throughout the Chicagoland area. Coordinates with The Financial Services Director and Fiscal Services Coordinator to ensure program deliverables are met and program remains within budget
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Personnel Management: Supervise and manage CACFP staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating team performance. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with USDA, state, and local CACFP regulations and guidelines. Monitor the implementation of program policies to maintain standards. Program Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct regular site visits to assess program operations, meal quality, and compliance. Provide feedback and support for staff and participants.
Training and Development : Deliver training materials for new and existing CACFP staff. Ensure staff stays up to date with program requirements. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit necessary reports, including meal counts, participant eligibility, and financial documentation. Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the CACFP budget, including monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effective meal services.
Collaboration and Communication: Foster relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Communicate regularly with site directors and staff to ensure smooth program operations. Serve as liaison to IDHS, IDVA & DCFS for possible fraud, overpayments, appeals, and policy clarifications. Participate in state, local and county collaborations and provide training and technical assistance as needed. Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to CACFP operations, meal service, or participant needs.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in administrative and program meetings, as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum three-year’s experience in social services, or early childhood programs, with one year of supervisory experience, is required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Education, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 1 year of personnel management. Knowledge: Strong understanding of CACFP regulations, child nutrition guidelines, and food safety standards. Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CACFP reporting tools. Certifications: CACFP training certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the first year

Demonstrated respect and appreciation for working in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural work environment must be evident... WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment includes offices. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements include walking, stooping or kneeling. There may be a need to reach or to lift objects, such as packages or supplies. Communication needs include seeing, hearing and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, on the telephone and using computers.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week. This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet program deadlines or attend training events. The CACFP Coordinator will work in an office environment, but travel to various locations for monitoring and support activities is required.
