Bilingual Spanish Human Resources Specialist
Location: Bedford Park, IL, 60638
Schedule: Monday-Thursday-6 am-3 pm, Friday-6 am-12 pm
Pay rate: $18-$19/hr
Duties:
Human Resources Support & Recruitment
Assist with recruiting efforts for entry-level and general labor positions, including facilitating employment applications and scheduling interviews.
Coordinate with employment agencies as needed, including tracking hours, submitting timesheets, approving invoices, and monitoring temp-to-hire status.
Maintain updated job opening boards and support candidate sourcing efforts.
Set up new hire files and conduct orientation sessions; oversee the onboarding process and monitor new hire probationary period performance.
Process employee vacation and time-off requests; maintain and update the time-off calendar.
Maintain and update the Seniority & Skills Matrix, attendance tracker, and approved driver tracker.
Facilitate verbal and written attendance-related warnings for point-based attendance infractions.
Benefits & Compliance Administration
Support group insurance benefits renewals by preparing censuses and assisting with open enrollment.
Assist HR Manager with employee relations and compliance-related matters such as workplace injuries, disciplinary actions, COBRA, FMLA, retirement plans, and OSHA recordkeeping.
Safety & OSHA Compliance (Safety Committee Member)
Coordinate and lead weekly HR/Safety walkthroughs across both buildings.
Schedule and coordinate annual safety training sessions; ensure proper documentation of employee certificates.
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) binder, HazCom program, and safety labeling for products.
Issue respirators and schedule initial/annual testing and training; maintain records and post lists of approved wearers.
Keep stock of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Draft and distribute memos with safety reminders and best practices.
Prepare agendas, attend Safety Committee meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
Employee Engagement & Administrative Support
Plan and coordinate employee events, including appreciation lunches, annual meetings, and required training sessions.
Maintain office inventory and order supplies (Amazon/Sam’s Club), including basic first aid items, utensils, paper goods, etc.
Provide general phone and office support as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience in HR support and recruitment, including onboarding, interview scheduling, and coordination with staffing agencies
- Knowledge of employee benefits administration, including insurance, COBRA, FMLA, and open enrollment
- Familiarity with safety compliance and OSHA regulations; experience coordinating safety training and maintaining SDS/HazCom documentation
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining trackers (attendance, seniority, skills, drivers) and processing time-off requests
- Ability to plan and manage employee events and maintain office supply inventory
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable handling employee relations and disciplinary processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general office systems; able to provide phone and administrative support
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required – must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce
