Overview

The (Senior) Customs Broker will serve as the first contact for AIT colleagues and customs authorities with regards to customs related queries. This role will ensure optimal, smooth, and timely customs clearance processes.

Responsibilities

• Plausibility check of customs-relevant customer data and commissioning
• Declaration of import customs clearances and export clearances
• Ensuring communication with customs authorities
• Preparation of transit documents and monitoring of their closure
• Calculation of duties
• Support and consulting of customers
• Preparation of key figures and statistics
• Carrying out general administrative tasks
• Compliance with the obligation to retain customs documents
• Deadline control and compliance with completion and submission deadlines
• Handle additional tasks according to specific customer SOP requirements
• Other duties as assigned by management
• Support resolution of local NCR’s, complaints, claims
• Support Implementation & continuous improvement for customers
• Support the Customs Manager in creation of SOPs, updating of processes and flowcharts
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable).

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of professional experience as a customs agent/broker
• Good knowledge in customs clearance
• Ability to work independently and in a group environment
• Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications) preferred
• Fluent oral and written English is a must
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization, strong cultural sensitivity, and ability to build up relationship
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently
• Pro-active, target driven, solutions-oriented and good attention to details
• Flexible and positive attitude to excel in a client-driven environment, commercial awareness
• Open to new ideas and technologies
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
