Senior data strategy analyst - of technology

Provide data collection, standardization, and analysis support for County-wide agencies. Translate complex subject matter into actionable recommendations. Ensures accuracy/integrity of data and applications through analysis, coding, writing documentation and problem resolution. Collaborate across functional areas to create sustainable, scalable, and elegant data solutions to complex challenges. Building and maintaining business intelligence dashboards for agency stakeholders. Develops, evaluates, and implements program logic; translates business needs into end user applications and performs data analyst and modeling activities for a business-driven operational layer which integrates multiple master data domains and reference data and exposes the integrated data to enterprise-wide applications via web services.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and
  • Four (4) years of data management, data mining, data development, or directly related experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required .

  • Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of SQL at an intermediate level, including the following concepts: where clauses, joins, subqueries, update syntax, group by and other aggregate functions, basic debugging, and appropriate use of temp tables.
  • Knowledge of current computer and electronic data processing systems and technology solutions to business problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex subject matter.
  • Ability to shape and analyze large datasets (100,000+ rows) in Microsoft Excel, SQL, or R and ability to read and analyze complex subject matter and interpret it to a less technical audience.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to staff addressing analytical and technical challenges.
  • Skill in executing advanced data collection, synthesis, analysis, reporting, and development of recommendations to support functional area(s), where analysis is based on diverse or non-standard problems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members, mid-level leadership, and potentially senior leaders to drive accuracy and precision in analysis.
  • Knowledge of diverse analytical practices to independently perform moderate to complex studies and continually adopt new methods.
  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices including documentation of metrics and policies that govern data collection, storage, access and use.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Salary: $92,748-$102,387 yearly

  • This position requires successful completion of post-offer tests, which may include a background check, drug screen and medical examination.
