• Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – Locum Tenens / Travel Nurse
• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-Recognized Facility
• Unit: Medical Surgical Oncology (24 beds, average daily census: 24)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
• Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 – 07:15); 3x12 or 4x12 per week
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000 - $2050 per week
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or in application process)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Oncology RN or Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Chemo certification preferred (ONS/ONCC, OCN)
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Ability to float within scope to other hospital units as needed
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Strong IV therapy, infusion, and chemotherapy administration skills
• Excellent communication and patient/family education skills

Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients
• Administer chemotherapy (IV, oral, continuous infusion, IV push) and manage cytotoxic spills
• Monitor and interpret abnormal lab values and treatment side effects
• Access and manage ports, central lines, and PICC lines
• Administer blood products, antifungals, antivirals, and coagulation factors
• Float to other units within the hospital as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Educate and support patients and families throughout the oncology treatment process
