Corporate Counsel

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Providing counsel on a variety of legal issues to Federal Signal’s internal business clients
• Advising internal business teams on legal risks, obligations, and best practices
• Assisting with employment‑related matters such as policies, investigations, and compliance
• Managing outside counsel when specialized expertise is required
• Developing and improving internal processes and policies
• Providing broad legal support across the company, handling a mix of commercial, corporate, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, employment, and operational matters
• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
• Advising clients regarding compliance with state and federal legal requirements impacting the business
• Handling a variety of other tasks as a legal advisor and business partner

Position Requirements:

• J.D. from an accredited law school required
• Licensed and in good standing with a state bar required
• 10+ years of legal experience required; a mix of law firm and in‑house experience preferred
• Strong business judgment and ability to balance legal risks with practical solutions
• Collaborative mindset and ability to build trust across teams
• Proven negotiation and analytical skills
• Demonstrated litigation management skills
• Strong contract drafting skills with keen attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interact confidently, persuasively, and diplomatically with all levels of organization
• Minimal travel

Open to candidates interested in working full-time or part-time (minimum three days a week)

This is an on-site position located in Downers Grove, IL. Candidates should reside in the Greater Chicago area without the need for relocation

Salary Range:

$159,400 - $199,200
