Position Overview
Under administrative direction, serves as an Assistant Operations Officer for the Division of Justice Services; organizes, plans, executes, controls and evaluates the day-to-day business operations of Disposition/Acquisition, NICS/SOR Record Challenge, Quality Assurance, and Information Services Technology operations; serves as an Assistant to the Executive Operations Officer; maintains public relations by performing liaison work with the criminal justice community, non-criminal justice government entities and private organizations; monitors ongoing objectives to meet deadlines in an accurate and timely manner; Participates in new hire interviews; provides guidance and training; counsels staff regarding work performance and conduct; makes recommendations on and assists in the development of policy; researches and reviews legislation affecting the operations, goals and objects of the Bureau and/or Departmental policies; drafts recommendations, summaries, and/or responses on behalf of the Executive Operations Officer; acts as liaison to other professionals, both within and outside the Department; develops and coordinates programs and improvements beneficial to the Bureau and Department operations.

Essential Functions
- Under administrative direction, serves as an Assistant Operations Officer for the Illinois statewide Bureau of Identification as it relates to the areas of responsibility.
- Serves as working supervisor establishing annual goals and objectives.
- Serves as an assistant to the Executive Operations Officer as it relates to the areas of responsibility - Disposition/ Acquisition, NICS/SOR Record Challenge, Quality Assurance, and Information Services Technology operations.
- On behalf of the Bureau Chief and the Deputy Director of the Division, attends management meetings, special committees, sub-committees, and task forces representing the Bureau and the Department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in a managerial capacity.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of staff utilization and employee motivation.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with labor and employment development.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with the maintenance and processing of criminal history record information, including but not limited to experience with auditing criminal history data records systems and the use of criminal history record information.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with state and federal laws and regulations which pertain to criminal history record collection and dissemination.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in criminal justice information, computer science, statistics, or related field.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with exercising judgement and discretion in development, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.

- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
