IBM DataStage Engineer - INTL Nearshore

Job Description

Role:

We are looking for an experienced IBM DataStage Developer who not only understands how to build, support, and optimize DataStage ETL pipelines, but can also reverse-engineer an existing system and help migrate or rebuild it into a new, modernized solution.

This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to dissect complex legacy ETL flows, and the capability to translate them into clean, scalable architectures in DataStage or another target platform.

Responsibilities:

Reverse-engineer an existing ETL system to understand its architecture, dependencies, and data workflows.

Document current-state processes, data flows, logic, and integration points.

Design target-state solutions that meet business and technical requirements (either in DataStage or a new environment).

Build, enhance, and maintain DataStage jobs, sequences, and reusable components.

Troubleshoot and support existing DataStage pipelines during transition efforts.

Participate in production support, debugging, and performance tuning.

Skills and Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage (Parallel and Server Jobs).

Ability to support, debug, and troubleshoot DataStage environments.

Proven ability to build new ETL jobs from the ground up.

Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data warehousing principles, and relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).

Proficiency with SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization.

Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments (shell scripting is a plus).
