Back of House Staff
Zeitlin's Delicatessen is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as a Part-Time Seasonal Farmers Market Line Cook. This is a unique opportunity to work outdoors, engage directly with the community, and contribute to the growth of a small, local food business.
Position OverviewThe Farmers Market Line Cook will be responsible for the preparation and execution of Zeitlin's Delicatessen menu items at various farmers market locations throughout the season. This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and has a passion for high-quality food and customer interaction.
Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 16+ hours per week.
Season: April through the end of October.
Location: Various farmers market sites (rain or shine).
- Food Preparation: Efficiently prepare and cook all deli menu items, including sandwiches, sides, and other prepared foods, to Zeitlin's quality standards.
- Customer Service: Interact positively and professionally with market patrons, answer questions about the menu, and handle orders accurately.
- Setup and Breakdown: Assist with the setup of the market booth, including equipment, cooking stations, and display areas, and ensure a thorough and timely breakdown and cleanup at the end of the market day.
- Inventory and Organization: Monitor ingredient levels, communicate needs to the management team, and maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Cash Handling (as needed): Accurately process transactions and handle cash/card payments.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other market staff and management to ensure smooth market operations.
- EARLY MORNING WEEKEND AVAILABILITY IS MUST
- Prior experience as a line cook, prep cook, or in a similar food service role is highly preferred.
- Ability to work extended periods standing and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (rain or shine).
- Must be available to work weekends and specific market days (approximately 16+ hours per week).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Food Handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one immediately upon hire).
- Reliable transportation to and from market locations and commissary kitchen (if applicable).
