Server (Brunch Focus)

Obélix, located in River North, provides a French bistro experience through the lens of two French-American brothers who grew up in Chicago. Obélix has been named a finalist for Best New Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation. It received top honors upon opening from Chicago Magazine for Best New Restaurant in 2022.

We are looking for professionals who are passionate about genuine hospitality, possess strong food and beverage knowledge, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, chef-driven environment. Our ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience through attentive, knowledgeable service that is also comfortable with French wine.

Open availability is strongly preferred, Sunday availability is required. We are looking for a reliable, experienced FOH professional to join our established front-of-house team- with a primary focus on weekend brunch service (with some evening availability as well) for 3-4 shifts per week.

• Provide warm, polished, and personalized service from greeting to farewell.
• Confidently guide guests through our seasonal food menu, cocktail offerings, and extensive French-focused wine list.
• Recommend thoughtful food and wine pairings with an emphasis on French wine regions, producers, and styles.
• Maintain expert knowledge of menu changes, daily features, and beverage offerings.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism throughout every shift.
• Uphold Obelix's standards of excellence, hospitality, and teamwork.

• Minimum of 2 years of serving experience in an upscale, chef-driven, or fine dining restaurant.
• Strong understanding of classic service standards and guest engagement.
• Working knowledge of French wines is strongly preferred, including major regions, varietals, appellations, and pairing principles.
• Genuine enthusiasm for food, wine, and continuous learning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a high-volume environment.
• Positive attitude, professionalism, and reliability.
• Must be available to work Sunday.
