Oncology RN Navigator Job Details

• Position Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Location: Harvey, Illinois 60426 – Greater Chicago Area
• Healthcare Setting: Outpatient Oncology – Chemo/Oncology Department
• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) Navigator
• Shifts: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour days (07:00 – 16:00)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Patient Population: Adults with cancer diagnoses or high risk for cancer
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1900–$1950

Qualifications for Oncology RN Navigator

• Minimum 5 years of oncology nursing experience in a clinical or outpatient setting
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (NURSYS verification required)
• Chemo certification (OCN, ONS/ONCC, AOCNP, or equivalent from ONCC)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficiency with electronic health record/charting systems
• Strong skills in patient and family education, care coordination, and oncology navigation
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Two professional references, including one from a direct supervisor or manager

Key Responsibilities – Oncology Nurse Navigator

• Advocate for oncology patients and their families throughout the cancer care continuum
• Conduct cancer genetics risk screening and coordinate referrals for genetic testing
• Develop and review survivorship care plans with patients
• Provide clinical support and supervisory oversight to oncology navigation social service staff
• Assist with Commission on Cancer Accreditation activities for Survivorship and Genetics Services
• Educate patients and families on cancer treatment, side effects, and survivorship care
• Manage care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, and other oncology procedures
• Ensure compliance with neutropenic and isolation precautions
• Identify and communicate abnormal lab values; manage medication tolerance and dependence
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with healthcare providers
