• Job Title: Locum Tenens Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801 (Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Observation Unit
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract (Locum Tenens RN)
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 27, 2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Shifts: 3x12 hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2050

Qualifications – Registered Nurse Requirements

• Minimum three (3) years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in the Observation Unit as part of a collaborative healthcare team
• Implement nursing procedures and evidence-based practices related to medical-surgical nursing
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support patient care and interdisciplinary communication
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Continuously evaluate and modify care plans based on patient needs and clinical judgment
• Prioritize patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
• Delegate and supervise tasks to healthcare technicians, ensuring quality and completion
• Administer medications safely, adhering to the 5 Rights of Medication Administration
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, and infection control
• Promote a positive and supportive work environment for patients and colleagues
• Utilize critical thinking and clinical skills to respond to changes in patient status
• Facilitate efficient admission and discharge processes for observation status patients
