Travel Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Mount Vernon, IL 62864 (Southern Illinois nursing jobs)
• Facility Setting: Hospital – LDRP & Nursery Unit
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Locum Tenens)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
• Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (15:00 – 03:00); 4x12s also available
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2020-$2070
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Required (at least 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, 1 Sunday per 4-week schedule)
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 (Days/Nights/Weekends)
• Daily Census: 20; Average 140 deliveries/month and growing

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Illinois RN license preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (Level 2 nursery experience preferred)
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN (Advanced, Beginner, or Intermediate), STABLE, and FHM certifications preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Ability to float between labor, mother/baby, or as sitter on other hospital units
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must pass OSHA Respirator Clearance and FIT testing (clean-shaven required)
• Local candidates (within 70 miles) not accepted

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive patient care in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, and Gyn units
• Manage patients with gestational hypertension, diabetes, and multiple births
• Assist with and recover C-sections, labor inductions, and vaginal deliveries
• Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and metabolic screenings
• Support breastfeeding/lactation and provide discharge education to parents
• Conduct unit procedures: circumcisions, hearing screens, newborn screens
• Utilize specialized equipment: Giraffe incubators, Panda warmers, GE fetal monitors, and more
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: respiratory, pharmacy, social services, rapid response
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using EPIC and hospital systems
• Float as needed between labor, mother/baby, and other clinical units
