Job Title: HR Business Partner (Contract)

Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday onsite; Fridays off (32-hour work week)

Addison Group is hiring for our client, a respected nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities and behavioral health needs throughout the Chicago area. The role partners closely with leadership and plays a visible part in supporting organizational initiatives.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner for a short-term contract engagement. This individual will step in quickly to support day-to-day HR operations, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and organizational support. The ideal candidate is adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable navigating sensitive workplace situations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations concerns, advising managers and staff on workplace matters
• Lead and document internal investigations, ensuring alignment with policies and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation
• Assist with compliance initiatives, including participation in periodic internal audits
• Review HR data and provide insights to support leadership decision-making
• Support payroll-related administrative tasks such as updates to employee records and compensation changes
• Utilize HRIS systems to manage employee information and workflows
• Collaborate with leadership across multiple departments to support ongoing initiatives
• Provide occasional support with hiring and recruitment activities

Qualifications:

• Strong background in employee relations and workplace investigations
• Exposure to union environments is required
• Familiarity with payroll processes and back-end HR operations
• Ability to quickly adapt and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
