Rental Counter Specialist - Tools & Party Equipment

House of Rental, a family-owned business in Skokie, IL, is looking for a dedicated Rental Counter Specialist to join our team. In this full-time role, you will be the first point of contact for customers seeking both tool and party equipment rentals. You will play a vital role in helping homeowners, contractors, and event planners find the right equipment for their projects and celebrations. Responsibilities

• Assist walk-in and phone customers with rental inquiries and product selection
• Guide customers in choosing tools, equipment, tents, tables, chairs, linens, and other event rental items
• Ask questions to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate rental solutions
• Create, modify, and close rental contracts, ensuring accurate entry of customer information
• Verify customer identification and required documentation according to company procedures
• Review rental rates, periods, damage waiver options, and rental policies with customers
• Coordinate with warehouse and yard staff to confirm equipment availability
• Explain basic equipment operation and applications to customers
• Help prevent theft by following verification procedures
• Maintain organized rental records and paperwork
• Build and maintain positive relationships with contractors, homeowners, businesses, schools, and event clients
• Keep the rental counter area clean, organized, and professional

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Dependable, organized, and professional demeanor
• Previous experience in tools, equipment, construction, landscaping, hardware stores, event rentals, hospitality, or customer service preferred
• Knowledge of power tools, equipment, or party rental inventory is a plus

Compensation

$20.00 – $22.00 per hour
