Registered Nurse Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,090 - $2,140 per week
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (August 25, 2025 – November 24, 2025)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (18:00 – 06:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Family Birth Center (18 beds)
• Setting: Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Hospital
• Scrubs: Provided
• Charting System: Cerner (Cerner experience preferred)
• Parking: Free with permit

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

• Current and active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to apply
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Experience in antepartum, high-risk deliveries, Level I Nursery, LDRP, and mother/baby care
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring (external and internal), IV therapy, and medication administration (including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and prostaglandins)
• Ability to float to Pediatrics as needed
• Community hospital and Cerner charting experience preferred
• Must complete compliance requirements and orientation promptly

Key Responsibilities for L&D Registered Nurse

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients, including high-risk obstetric cases
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including circulating and recovery duties
• Conduct antepartum assessments and procedures (sterile speculum exams, NSTs, OCTs, triage, etc.)
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and respond to abnormal findings
• Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered by healthcare providers
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room (APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, security banding, etc.)
• Educate and support parents on newborn care, discharge teaching, and postpartum recovery
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner
• Float to Pediatrics within scope of practice as required
• Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols
