Floor Manager

Tarra & Sura, a Thai fine dining restaurant and cocktail lounge opening soon in River North, is seeking to add a skilled General Manager to our opening team. The restaurant will feature a luxurious 100 seat dining room on the ground floor, and a swanky 60 seat cocktail lounge hidden below serving high-touch, experimental cocktails and thoughtful small bites.

The dining floor is named Tarra, the Thai word meaning nourishing and purifying water. The cocktail lounge is Sura, a Thai word meaning both courage and the pouring of drinks. As the opening Floor Manager , you will collaborate with General Manager and Executive Chef Namo Chowcharoen, having honed his culinary expertise at Dusit Thani College and has been the Executive Chef at Franklin Room for the last four years to open this dual-concept project balancing excellent hospitality with the concept of flowing water.

The Floor Manager will oversee all restaurant operations, including but not limited to:

Job Summary:

Collaborating directly with GM, lead and manage all facets of the FOH and operations of Tarra and Sura. The Manager will continue to build a better brand with the staff by constantly improving our food and service while focusing on our client/partner and our guests and providing unparalleled hospitality. The Manager will work closely with the GM and Executive Chef to achieve shared goals. The position requires flexibility and a wide range of hospitality, service and business acumen. The Manager actively embodies, inspires and teaches skills that will elevate the core values of Tarra and Sura.

Responsibilities:

• Work with GM to establish and achieve clear profitability and performance goals and metrics for Tarra and Sura
• Maintain and grow relationships with all corresponding departments
• Continuously recruit strong candidates for all positions and grow through empowerment and development
• Ensure that Tarra and Sura continuously delivers uncommon hospitality and excellence to its guests. Actively embody, inspire and teach hospitality to all.

Skills/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or hospitality or equivalent experience.
• 2 years in leadership position
• 2 + years in high volume restaurants
• Experience in all facets of a restaurant
• Specific knowledge of Purchasing, Receiving, Maintenance, Inventory, P&L, Cash handling procedures and controls, HR systems and Sales and Marketing
• Operations experience in Maitre d’ position, Reservationist, Bar Management, Wine Directory, Service Director, Special Events, Expeditor, Stewarding and Porter Management
• Excellent Communication Skills (verbal/oral/listening)
• Excellent Leadership & Organizational Management Skills
• Proficient in Restaurant Systems (POS/Open Table)
• Excellent Dining Room and Facilities Operations Knowledge
• Food & Beverage Knowledge with a solid understanding of Wine + Spirits
  Understanding of HR Practices, Policies and Procedures
