Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a highly motivated Account Technician I to work at the Lincoln Correctional Center. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task orientated, and an organized individual with attention to detail. Essential Functions

  • Processes various transactions to individuals in custody Trust Fund accounts.
  • Performs timekeeping for facility employees.
  • Coordinates Travel and Allowance funds for disbursement to discharged or paroled individuals in custody by maintaining the cash box and conducting the release process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably withing the scope and responsibilities identified above or within position description.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

**Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working in accounting techniques.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with state or non-state accounting procedures.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in an office setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience utilizing office equipment and the various functions.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience meeting deadlines and multi-tasking in a professional setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and similar computer software.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
