Customs Entry Writer | Import Brokerage Specialist

Des Plaines, IL | Full-Time | 100% Onsite | $28–$30/hour + Benefits

We are actively hiring an experienced Customs Entry Writer to support a busy import brokerage and logistics operation in the Des Plaines area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment and has strong experience handling customs entries, FDA releases, HTS classifications, and shipment coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and submit import entries accurately and efficiently

• Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipment documentation

• Handle FDA/PGA filings and monitor “May Proceed” and release statuses

• Research and assign HTS classifications when needed

• Track Customs and FDA holds, exams, and release updates

• Communicate proactively with clients regarding missing documents or shipment delays

• Coordinate release instructions with carriers and steamship lines

• Correct documentation and entry discrepancies to avoid clearance delays

• Transfer completed files to post-entry processing teams

Requirements

• 3+ years of customs brokerage or entry writing experience

• Strong knowledge of HTS classification, import clearance, FDA/PGA processes, and Customs regulations

• Experience working within fast-paced brokerage/import environments

• QuestaWeb experience is a plus

• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills

• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel

Note

This is a full-time onsite position. Candidates MUST have recent hands-on customs brokerage or entry writing experience. This is not an entry-level logistics role.
