Payroll & HR Administrator
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & HR Administrator to join its team in the Chicago area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning payroll while also contributing to additional HR operations of interest, such as employee onboarding, benefits administration, and workforce support. This is a highly visible position that requires discretion, accuracy, and a commitment to providing exceptional support to employees and leadership.
What you will do
Payroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 150 employees
- Maintain employee payroll records, tax documentation, direct deposit information, and deductions
- Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Prepare payroll-related reports and assist with audits as needed
- Serve as a trusted resource for employee payroll questions
HR Operations (preferred)
- Support onboarding and offboarding activities
- Assist with employee records management and HR documentation
- Coordinate benefits administration and employee enrollment activities
- Support recruiting coordination and HR projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of payroll administration experience
- Experience processing payroll through ADP or a similar payroll platform
- Strong Excel and reporting skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Experience supporting HR functions beyond payroll is highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to employee benefits administration
- Experience supporting onboarding and recruiting activities
- Familiarity with employment authorization, visa, or international employee documentation
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environments
