Pay: $17.00-$19.00/hour
The Deck Attendant is responsible for preparing the aquatic facility for daily operations by ensuring the pool deck, amenities, and equipment are clean, organized, and ready for guests before opening. This seasonal position runs from Labor Day through Memorial Day and works Monday through Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with no weekend shifts. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet all customers as they enter the pool area – ensuring guest is 18 years old or older.
- Complete a periodic walk through of the facility to ensure all areas and features are operable and free of hazards.
- Include a head count of usage for data tracking.
- Respond in an emergency, utilizing the facility Emergency Operations Plan as needed.
- Complete periodic chemical checks as needed for IDPH and internal record keeping.
- If opening, complete a full facility opening checklist to ensure the facility is ready for use, without hazards or concerns for water conditions prior to opening facility to guests.
- Support and promote all pool rules and regulations.
- Answer all incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department.
- Assist all patrons with any questions regarding the facility and/or memberships.
- Perform assignments that include but are not limited to clerical tasks and problem solving.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in all communications.
- Communicate with pool manager and other staff in an appropriate and effective manner on a daily basis.
- Appropriate dress is required as indicated in the Dress Code Policy.
- Maintain a neat and safe working environment.
- Must have the ability to be flexible and have a good working relationship with other staff.
- Perform any duties as assigned by the Aquatic Manager, Superintendent of Aquatic and Maintenance Operations, Deputy Director or Executive Director.

- Support the District’s safety initiative including adhering to policies and procedures, performing your job in a safe manner, attending required training, seeking additional training as needed, promptly reporting accidents/incidents, and proactively addressing hazards in the workplace.
Schedule & Hours:
- Hours are available 5:15am - Noon every Monday-Friday from Labor Day through Memorial Day. Scheduled hours will vary based on availability and need.
- Attendance at all in-service trainings and aquatic meetings required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification required (training available)
- StarGuard Elite lifeguard license preferred (training available)
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
