This role leads the Sales organization in the United States and Canada within our Pharma Ingredients Global Vertical. The role is accountable for growing market share and delivering profitable growth through the creation and execution of customer- and supplier-specific growth strategies. The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and coordinating a high-performance team and culture, driven by strong sales processes measured by key performance indicators.

 

What you'll do

  • Meet annual financial objectives by promoting growth and market share gains, encouraging accountability and dedication to a sales growth process.
  • Drive data-based analyses and support the development of territory, regional, and North American strategies to differentially target customers and segments, reduce churn, increase share of wallet, and increase opportunity pipeline flow. Actively nurture key supplier relationships.
  • Partner with the North American Product Management Team and help drive product strategy to include the addition of new suppliers and growth with existing suppliers.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key customers in the market; establish trust, learn about customers’ organization and culture, responsibility lines, products, financial situation, opportunities, etc. Make individual and joint sales calls as needed to coach and properly support the team.
  • Provide leadership to North American Sales Managers and their sales teams. Build the highest performing. Recruit and grow talent, mentor for performance and skill improvement, offer honest feedback, and align people with suitable roles.
  • Attend industry-sponsored functions and conferences to develop relationships, gain credibility, and access market information to guide business decisions.

 

What you'll need

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in business, science, or a technical field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in sales/sales leadership, and running a business is preferred. This includes proven specialty sales leadership getting results through clear articulation of goals, execution on key behaviors in the sales process, and accountability. Distribution experience strongly desired.
  • Proven team leadership with a track record of building high-performing teams and driving sales excellence through strategic resource deployment and customer-focused growth.
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships and influence others. Ability to negotiate contracts, pricing and agreements with suppliers and customers in a mutually beneficial manner while maintaining integrity and achieving goals.
  • Strong critical thinking and business insight with the analytical skills to drive P&L, cash flow decisions, and enterprise-wide impact.
  • Ability to work across functions and boundaries to influence and find mutually beneficial outcomes for the business; Can maneuver through complex situations with tact; Anticipates sensitive issues and adjusts accordingly.
  • Ability to travel 50% to customers, suppliers, internal meetings, industry meetings, trade shows, and joint sales calls.
