Toolroom Technician, Jigs & Fixtures
Are you the go-to problem solver in the toolroom?
Do you enjoy turning prints into purpose-built tools? Can you move from a blueprint to a finished fixture—then pivot to sharpen a cutter, adjust a setup, and keep production humming? As a Toolroom Technician (Jigs & Fixtures), you’ll craft and maintain the tooling that keeps manufacturing efficient and precise.
Challenge
Your mission: transform detailed job prints into reliable tooling. You’ll build jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and cutting tools; restore worn tools to spec; and ensure every toolholder you touch is ready for immediate use. You’ll manage toolroom flow, from check-in/check-out to assembling complete setup kits on short notice.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints; fabricate or modify tooling to meet specifications.
- Sharpen tools, verify holder condition, and return assets to storage in ready-to-use state.
- Repair tooling or submit requisitions for replacement parts and hardware to maintain availability.
- Control toolroom inventory through accurate check-in/check-out practices.
- Operate lathes and other toolroom machines to produce form tools, taps, drills, and holders.
- Assemble setup kits for production equipment upon request.
What it takes to excel
- Preferred experience with heading in the fastener industry.
- Clear communicator with supervisors, peers, and subordinates via phone, email, writing, and face-to-face; calm under pressure.
- Organized, efficient, and accurate when switching tasks.
- Familiar with IATF 16949 requirements.
- Strong deductive reasoning to solve specific problems from general rules.
- Ability to tune machine variables: speeds, pressures, temperatures, dimensions, and material flow.
- Basic knowledge of heading maintenance.
- Competent with calipers, micrometers, and reading blueprints.
- Strict adherence to OSHA and internal safety policies.
Onsite expectations
This is a fully onsite role at a single location supporting production teams directly.

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
- Ability to continuously stand and move through 8–10-hour shifts.
- 100% onsite. One work location.
