Job overview and responsibilities
The Ancillary Products team, a part of United's Revenue management team, manages a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of travel add-ons including Economy Plus, upgrades, seat assignments, checked bags, Wi-Fi, travel insurance, and more.
The Ancillary Products Senior Manager directs a team of managers and analysts dedicated to improving revenue performance and customer satisfaction for United's ancillary portfolio through product strategy, offer optimization and analytical insight. They will directly influence strategy and investment for high-margin ancillary products, improve customers' travel experience, and impact United's bottom line.

Elevate direct reports through mentoring and support in all phases including training/familiarization, analyses, and product development

Analysis:

Manage and improve forecast models and reporting for ancillary product revenue each period, and support the monthly financial close and forecast process in partnership with the finance organization

Design and direct ongoing analyses of product performance and new initiative impact with a view toward strategic prioritization

Support and execute timely ad-hoc analyses

Business Acumen:
-
Function as a portfolio owner across all ancillary products. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in all product aspects including financial performance, product policy and procedures, NPS, and optimization initiatives

Oversee product optimization efforts such as pricing tests, competitive analysis, new product research, and digital footprint expansion

Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives across the enterprise in support of ancillary products and interests

Project Management & Communications:

Design and lead cross-functional initiatives, collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders and providing timely and succinct updates to executive sponsors

Develop, direct development of, and present executive-grade materials to stakeholders of all levels

Manage relationships with third party vendors and service providers
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
-
Bachelor's degree
-
7+ years of relevant experience
-
Proven team leadership attributes: ability to listen, motivate, resolve conflicts, manage through ambiguity, and demonstrate flexibility
-
Analytical mindset, quantitative orientation required with strong knowledge of at least one database querying language (SQL, Python, etc.)

Strong passion to solve business problems with data

Self-motivated - If you don't know the answer, you'll reach out and find somebody who does

Poised and confident presenting insights to stakeholders of all levels

Experienced in analyzing complex, high volume data from various sources to identify patterns and relationships

Technical experience or aptitude to learn data visualization (Tableau, Spotfire) and website analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Quantum Metric)

Project management skills and experience preferred
-
Familiarity with airlines and ancillary products
-
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

5 - 7 years in an analytical role
-
At least one year in a lead or managerial role preferred
-
Experience in Airline Merchandising, Revenue Management, Management Consulting, or similar commercially-focused roles a plus
The base pay range for this role is $127,870.00 to $166,492.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
