Position Overview
This position investigates and prosecutes violations of assigned acts, rules, regulations and travels to conduct formal and informal hearings on complaints, alleging violations. Institutes licensure disciplinary proceedings in the Department against a licensee accused of irregular practice under assigned acts. Will assist superior in prioritizing and assigning Controlled Substance related cases. Conducts research and provides expert legal advice to professional licensing and disciplinary boards, enters data on a personal computer and/ or laptop computer, consults and cooperates with other State and Federal agencies, State's Attorney's Office and U.S. Attorneys regarding cases of a sensitive and confidential nature, and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
- Investigates and prosecutes violations of assigned acts, rules, regulations and judicial decisions with an emphasis on Controlled Substance cases.
- Travels to conduct formal and informal hearings on complaints alleging violations under assigned acts with an emphasis on Controlled Substance cases.
- Institutes licensure disciplinary proceedings in the Department against a licensee accused of irregular practice under assigned acts with an emphasis on Controlled Substance cases.
- Assists superior in prioritizing and assigning Controlled Substance related cases.
- Conducts research and provides expert legal advice to professional licensing and disciplinary boards in the interpretation of applicable statutes, proposed rules, regulations, and changes in applicable legislation.
- Enters data on personal computer and/or laptop computer concerning prosecution activities.
- Consults with and cooperates with other State and Federal agencies, State's Attorney's Office and U.S. Attorneys regarding cases of a sensitive and confidential nature involving criminal and/or administrative prosecution, transfer and use of evidence and court appearance scheduling.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires graduation from a recognized law school and the possession of a license to practice law in Illinois.
- Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the practice of law in the area of administrative and regulatory law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least four years of progressive prosecutorial experience.
- Prefers at least four years of experience writing legal documents for presentation in judicial or quasi-judicial proceedings.
- Prefers at least four years of experience working in a judicial or quasi-judicial setting, interacting regularly with staff, other attorneys, litigants and the general public.
- Prefers at least four years of experience conducting hearings on complaints alleging violations of regulatory acts.
