Job Title: Quality Control Technician – Sterile Processing

Location: Elmhurst, IL 60126

Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support sterile processing operations and ensure the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role combines hands-on sterile processing responsibilities with quality assurance, documentation, and inspection to maintain patient safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and internal work instructions
• Decontaminate, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects prior to packaging
• Assemble and package instrument trays accurately
• Operate sterilization equipment including washers and autoclaves
• Maintain accurate documentation for sterilization cycles, tracking, and inventory
• Identify and report missing or damaged instruments
• Monitor inventory levels and support supply management
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with internal teams and communicate effectively
• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

Working Conditions

• Fast-paced, controlled indoor environment
• Exposure to biohazardous materials and strong odors
• Regular use of PPE required
• Extended periods of standing and physical activity

Required Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Certifications:

• Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CRCST, CIS)

Experience & Skills:

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience
• Strong knowledge of decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes
• Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs
• Experience operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washers, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Basic computer skills and documentation proficiency
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in quality control or quality assurance roles
