Third Shift Transportation Manager
Location: Aurora, IL
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $60,000 – $65,000 annually
Position Overview We are looking for a driven and dependable Transportation Manager to lead third shift operations at one of our customer’s terminal locations. The shift is from 12 AM – 10 AM. This role is responsible for ensuring freight moves safely, efficiently, and on time. This position plays a key role in setting the tone for the operation leading by example, reinforcing a safety-first culture, and ensuring every delivery is executed with accuracy and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
•Provide hands-on leadership across terminal operations, supporting and developing your team while ensuring freight is dispatched safely, accurately, and on time
•Lead daily coordination of pickups and deliveries to maintain customer service expectations and operational efficiency
•Monitor route execution and shipment status, proactively communicating updates to customers and internal teams
•Champion a safety-first environment, ensuring all operations are conducted in compliance with customer standards and regulatory requirements
•Identify staffing and equipment needs, proactively planning to support operational demand
•Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to improve processes, drive efficiency, and solve operational challenges
•Maintain accurate and timely operational records, reporting, and documentation
•Support recruiting, training, and ongoing development
•Reinforce company policies, customer expectations, and accountability across the operation
Qualifications
•3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or terminal operations leadership
•Proven ability to lead teams, manage daily operations, and drive performance in a fast-paced environment
•Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable
•Experience with routing, scheduling, and transportation management systems
•Working knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards
•Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound, timely decisions
•Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and with follow-through
•Uncompromising commitment to safety, accountability, and execution
•Class A or Class C non-CDL preferred, but not required
