Job Description

We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists with a strong skill set in setting up and operating both mills and lathes. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating multiple machines, ensuring precision and quality in manufacturing parts for various applications, including clutches and shafts. This role demands attention to detail and proficiency in interpreting blueprints and work orders to meet exact specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 1-2 machines, increasing to 2-3 machines once fully trained.
• Work from blueprints and work orders to determine measurements and piece quantities.
• Edit programs and conduct changeovers to complete new orders with tight tolerances of up to .001.
• Utilize gauges, micrometers, and calipers to inspect the first piece of each run and ensure quality.
• Complete all set-up paperwork for blueprints, fixtures, and gages.
• Secure tools in machines according to process sheets and setup procedures.
• Adjust machine controls for specified speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts.
• Position and secure workpieces in jaws or fixtures.
• Index machines and adjust tool positions to assure clearance and accurate machining.
• Perform periodic inspections to verify machined workpieces conform to specifications.
• Record daily production and maintain organization of setup materials and paperwork.
• Conduct autonomous maintenance adjustments to machinery and fluid levels.
• Assist new operators with setup and address any setup or operation issues with the Team or Group Leader.
• Maintain housekeeping standards for machines and work areas.

Essential Skills

• 3-5 years of CNC setup and operating experience.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and assembling parts to specification.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, and other mechanical inspection tools.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards.
• Applied knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certification in CNC (willing to train the right candidates with a certification).
• Willingness to cross-train in other areas of the plant as required.

Work Environment

This is a fast-paced manufacturing facility equipped with numerous CNC machines. The environment is dynamic, with a focus on producing high-quality products for diverse sectors, including military applications. The facility operates with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Rockford,IL.
