Coordinator of Audio-Visual Services
This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Chief Information Officer and is located at the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Coordinator of Audio-Visual Services is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of the College's audio visual and security systems. This position coordinates AV services for classrooms, meetings, and special events, including those held in the College Auditorium. The coordinator ensures all audio visual, video surveillance, access control, and alarm systems operate effectively and safely. The role also includes equipment installation, supervision of part-time AV technicians, and serving as the primary contact for outside organizations utilizing College facilities for events requiring AV support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate all audio-visual services across campus, including scheduling, delivery, setup, and return of AV equipment.
- Provide technical support for classrooms, events, and auditorium functions.
- Manage inventory and maintenance of AV and technical equipment.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of video surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
- Perform audits and updates of Valerus and VAX systems; ensure full functionality and compliance with software updates.
- Train faculty, staff, and end users on AV and security system operations.
- Supervise part-time AV technicians during large events such as graduations and community programs.
- Serve as the main point of contact for outside organizations utilizing College facilities for events with AV needs.
- Assist with IT asset tracking and budget preparation for the department.
- Collaborate with internal IT staff and external vendors on system maintenance and improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or appropriate certification, credential, or demonstrated experience.
Experience:
- 13 years of professional experience in audio visual systems required.
- Prior experience in higher education or large event support preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, access control, and security technology.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and non-standard hours as needed.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (8:00am 5:00pm) and Friday (8:00am 12:00pm).
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required as needed.
