Audio Department - Operations Manager (Systems/Design) (Calumet City)

AUDIO DEPARTMENT - OPERATIONS MANAGER (SYSTEMS & DESIGN)

Location: Calumet City, IL | Full-Time | Salaried + Benefits

We’re looking for a seasoned systems-minded audio pro to bridge the gap between sales and execution. This role is all about turning quotes and ideas into real-world, deployable systems that crush on show day. If you love the technical side of audio, designing workflows, and making sure the gear list matches the vision, this is your next chapter.

Translate Quotes Into Deployable Systems

• Review project quotes and proposals and convert them into complete system designs.

• Create input/output patch lists, gear lists, and system diagrams.

• Verify equipment selections and substitutions for functionality and compatibility.

• Produce pull sheets for warehouse execution and optimize company assets for deployments

• Utilize current-day audio system prediction and optimization software to design and refine deployments and configurations.

System Design & Documentation

• Develop deployment plans, rack layouts, and signal flow documentation.

• Provide technical reference documents and guides for on-site technicians.

• Continuously refine documentation standards to improve clarity and execution.

Project Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with project managers to ensure design intent matches client expectations.

• Conduct handoff meetings with department managers, operations team members, logistics, warehouse, and technician teams.

• Communicate system requirements clearly to prep teams and field staff.

• Work with warehouse and field teams to meet design criteria for tours, festivals, one-offs, and installation.

On-Site & Support

• Serve as the go-to resource for system-related questions during prep and show execution.

• Support field teams with documentation, troubleshooting, and deployment support as needed.

Who You Are

• 7+ years of professional audio experience, with strong systems design and deployment skills.

• Deep understanding of modern audio systems, line array deployment, consoles, DSP, networking, wireless equipment, and signal flow.

• Detail-oriented and methodical, with the ability to turn abstract quotes into concrete, usable plans.

• Excellent communicator who thrives in collaborative, fast-moving environments.

• Ready to commit to a full-time leadership role focused on building scalable systems.

• Experience with modern sound system design and optimization software ( Sound Vision, Array Calc, MAP, etc)

• Proficient with CAD, Vextorworks, SketchUp

• Proficient networking and computer skills as it pertains to network audio protocols (Dante, AVB, COMM systems, etc)
